Empowering Rural Youth: Our Transformative Experience in the Learning Journey into Leadership Program

Fondation Botnar and Cinfo's global expertise have merged to create the Learning Journey into Leadership for Young Changemakers program. And In an exciting leadership journey, by participating in the Learning Journey into Leadership for Young Changemakers program, we have managed to materialize one of our great dreams through the creation of the Agricultural Youth Observatory as a digital platform. This project, born as an idea in 2018 in the context of the national university strike in Colombia and has now evolved thanks to the support and mentoring received during the program.

The Agricultural Youth Observatory has set out to connect the goals, dreams, ideas and projects of rural youth with opportunities, resources and mentoring. Starting in 2022 as a Facebook group, achieving the registration of more than 250 young people and sharing more than 200 posts of opportunities and resources for rural youth in Colombia. And now thanks to the participation in the leadership program, the Observatory has expanded its vision, seeking to extend its reach not only to young people in Colombia, but also to those throughout Latin America.

In addition, to keep young people attentive, the Agricultural Youth Observatory seeks to create a rural incubator. This space is intended to be a center where young people can find support and information to transform entrepreneurial ideas in agriculture and the environment. Initiatives led by rural youth will be encouraged, giving way to projects that contribute to sustainable development and strengthen rural communities.
